Disaster Animal Response Group
The Disaster Animal Response Group (GRAD) is a volunteer organization with over 80 members from diverse professional backgrounds and regions across Brazil. Our mission is to provide humanitarian aid to animals and people in vulnerable situations caused by disasters and in remote communities. Equipped with a skilled and trained technical team, we are prepared to respond effectively in a variety of scenarios.
The group consists of professionals from a wide range of fields, including veterinarians, animal scientists, agronomists, engineers, physical educators, biologists, lawyers, oceanographers, photographers, and civilian firefighters, among others.
Our diverse experience and technical capabilities allow us to effectively act in a different scenarios.
GRAD currently receives support from the Regional Veterinary Medicine Councils of the affected states, as well as the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Minas Gerais (MPMG), the National Forum for Animal Protection and Defense (FNDPA), and the Federal Veterinary Medicine Council.
Despite having a large group of volunteers, GRAD consistently relies on the support of local volunteers and veterinarians. The organization also works in alignment with official agencies such as Civil Defense, the Military Fire Department, the Military Police, the Municipal Guard, the Executive Branch, among others.
